SHOULD I STAY OR SHOULD I GO?

Find Clarity, Reclaim Your Power, & Make a Decision Aligned With Your Heart & Soul

Steps, Guiding Questions, & Resource Links

STEP 1: Assess The Situation
  • What’s the situation?
  • How long have you been feeling this way?
  • Are these challenges situational or based on foundational differences? Has something else happened that might be contributing to tension in your relationship? (global pandemic, illness in the family, loss, identity shifts, major life changes (a move, children, job)
  • What’s the relationship with yourself like? Are you nurturing yourself and your well-being?

STEP 2: Align with Core Values and Vision
  • Connect to your vision: Do you and your partner have a shared vision that inspires the both of you? What do you see for yourself in the future?
  • What are your core values? For your life? Your relationship? Are you living true to these? Do you and your partner align with what these mean to you?
  • Do you see a shared future?
  • Are there mutual goals that cannot be achieved elsewhere? (ie Having (or not) having kids.)

STEP 3: The Tough Questions
  • Are you safe? *If there is any sort of abuse, please get out!
  • Would you want this relationship for your child?
  • What would the 90 year version of you tell you to do?
  • If I gave you $1,000,000 what would you do?
  • What would it take for you to stay?
  • What would it take for you to feel at peace with leaving?
  • Are you willing to do the work to recreate your relationship? If so, what?
  • Are you willing to invest in your relationship? (Have you considered therapy, coaching, a program?) If so, how much?
  • How much time are you giving yourself to make your decision?
  • Do you and your partner still have sex?
  • Are you and your partner equally invested in the partnership?

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.

It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?' Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” - Marianne Williamson
